Controlling your Digital Twins and objects in your scene

Move, orient and align the elements of your scene.

Written by Sunil Vyas

All the objects in a scene are controlled with the same tools, whether it's a Digital Twin or an accessory from the library. This article covers the quick tools displayed on the selected object, then the settings in the right-hand panel.

Contents

Adding an object to your scene

  1. In the menu at the top left, open the Objects section.

  2. Choose the relevant tab: Products for your Digital Twins, Library for an accessory.

  3. Select the element you want to add: it appears in the scene.

💡 Drag it straight into the scene to position it precisely as you add it.

The quick tools

Click an object in the scene to display its tools.

Move

  1. Click the crossed arrows and hold.

  2. Drag your mouse from left to right to move the object horizontally, up or down to bring it closer or further away.

  3. Release: the object settles where the mouse stops.

💡 The arrow keys also move the object: on their own for a slow movement, with Shift for a fast one.

Duplicate

The copy takes on all the original object's settings: tilt, rotation, levitation, scale.

💡 Set up the object before duplicating it, so you don't do the work twice. You can also hold the click on the icon and move your mouse to create the copy and position it in one go.

Swap

Replaces one object with another while keeping all its settings: position, orientation, scale, and so on. (👉 See the dedicated article)

Lock

A locked object stays put: it can no longer be moved, edited or deleted. Click the padlock again to unlock it.

Delete

Select the object, then click the bin to delete it.

You can also use the Backspace and Delete keys on your keyboard.

Right-hand panel: position, orientation and scale

Click an object to open its settings panel, on the right of the studio.

  • Rotate: turns the object on its own axis.

  • Tilt: tips the object over or lays it down.

  • Pivot: turns the object around the vertical axis of the scene, without changing its own orientation.

  • Levitate: moves the object vertically. (👉 See the dedicated article)

  • Scale: enlarges or reduces the object.

  • Visibility: shows or hides the object in the scene. (👉 See the dedicated article)

Each setting is adjusted with the mouse using the double-arrow icon. You can also click the value on the right to type it in; Scale uses a slider.

💡 Choose 90° or -90° in Tilt to lay an object completely flat.

⚠️ To move a levitating object, use the arrow keys on your keyboard (hold Shift to go faster). The mouse move tool always pulls the object back towards the nearest surface.

Selecting several objects

Hold Shift and click the objects you want. You can then move them together or apply the same settings to all of them at once.

Aligning and distributing

Three tools let you position your objects in relation to one another:

  • Center: places the object or objects in the center of the scene.

  • Align horizontally: aligns the selected objects along the same line.

  • Distribute evenly: spaces the selected objects out regularly.

For the last two, first select several objects with Shift, then click the tool.

Creating an object bundle

Select several objects, Digital Twins and accessories alike, then click the link icon that appears in the studio.

The group you create can be saved and reused in other scenes. (👉 See the dedicated article)
