In Omi, you can control the visibility of your objects and products to decide how they appear in the scene or in the final render.
This is useful when you want to hide an object, keep only its light, or remove it from the interface without affecting the final image.
Accessing Visibility Settings
Click on the object or product in your scene
In the right-hand panel, find the Visibility section
Select one of the four available visibility states
The 3 Visibility States
The following examples use a swappable 3D asset from the library (a sphere) with a “Neon” texture that emits light, to clearly illustrate the effects of each visibility setting.
Show normally (Default)
The object is visible in both the scene and the final render.
Hide completely
The object is hidden everywhere. It won’t appear in the scene or in the final render (it will only be shown as red-highlighted scratch lines)
Hide but keep light
The object is hidden in both the scene (scratches highlighted in green) and the render, but the light it emits remains visible.
Perfect if you want to keep the lighting from an object without showing the object itself.
Once you selected Hide but keep light in the visibility panel, in the "Effects to keep" section, you will be able to toggle the following properties :
Keep Lights: The object continues to emit light and illuminate the scene.
Keep Reflections: The object will still appear in shiny/mirror surfaces (like glass or polished metal), even though it is invisible.
Keep Refractions: The object remains visible through transparent materials that bend light.
Keep Shadows: The object is hidden, but it still casts a shadow based on the scene's light sources.
💡 You can check all boxes to keep the object's full environmental impact, or mix and match (e.g., keep shadows but remove reflections) to achieve specific artistic effects.
What's the difference between Reflection and Refraction?
Reflection: This occurs when light bounces off a surface. If you want your hidden object to still be "seen" in a mirror or a glossy product bottle, keep Reflection enabled.
Refraction: This is the bending of light as it passes through a material (like water, glass, or a diamond). Enable Refraction if you want the hidden object to still distort or show up inside a glass vase or liquid in your scene.
