In Omi, lighting sets the mood, reveals textures, and draws the eye to your product. With one click, you can shift the entire atmosphere, just like a photographer going from a studio spotlight to soft morning light.
Summary:
Choosing a light:
Omi organizes lighting into several categories:
Packshots – Product visuals optimized by material
Neutral lifestyle – Realistic ambiance with no color dominance
Warm lifestyle – Warm-toned, orange-tinged visuals
Cold lifestyle – Cool-toned, blue-tinged visuals
Masks – Decorative shadow effects (leaves, shutters, etc.)
Legacy lights – Historical presets still available
Light settings
Once a light is selected, use the panel on the right to personalize it:
Turn – Rotates the source around the scene (left ↔ right)
Incline – Adjusts the vertical angle of the light
Intensity – Increases or decreases the light power
Color – Tints the light using a palette or HEX code
Effects – Adds an overlay filter (flare, vignette, etc.) (👉See dedicated article)
Atmosphère – Changes the HDRI and thus the scene's reflections (👉See dedicated article)
Presets – Save your custom or shared lighting setups (👉 See dedicated article)
Show light origin
This setting visualizes the light source within the Studio so you can see exactly where it is coming from.
How to activate it:
Go to the toolbar at the bottom of the Studio.
Click on the small arrow (dropdown menu).
Check the "Show light origin" option.
Note: This is a visual aid; it will not appear in the final render.
Animated lights (Video mode)
In Video mode, replace static lighting with animated presets (rotating beams, pulsing intensity, etc.). Select a preset, preview, and launch rendering.
The video option is only available for customers subscribed to this feature. If you're interested, contact your account manager or reach out via chat or at support@omi.so.
Light Objects
Beyond standard lighting, Omi allows you to integrate objects that emit their own light (panels, geometric shapes...). These objects are particularly effective for creating reflections on your products or adding an artistic touch.
How to add them?
In the
Lightssection of the left menu, go to theObjectstab.
Click on the object of your choice or drag and drop it directly into your scene.
Once the object is selected, you will find the standard settings common to all objects in the right-hand panel (Position, Rotation, Scale, Visibility).
In addition to this, you can adjust its specific lighting properties:
Intensity: Controls the power of the emitted light.
Color: Ideal for creative effects.
Animation (Video Mode): When your scene is in video mode, you can add animation to these objects to create dynamic lighting effects.
