The Timeline in Omi's video option allows you to control the duration and coordination of animations (products, lighting, etc.) precisely and independently. You can now apply multiple animations successively to the same product, offering greater flexibility in your creations, a feature that was not available previously.
The video option is only available to clients who have subscribed to this feature. If you are interested in this option, feel free to contact your account manager or reach out to support via chat or email at support@omi.so.
Table of Contents
1. Displaying the Timeline
If you have the video option in your Omi license, you can switch to video mode by clicking on the “video” button in the toolbar located at the bottom of the studio.
You will have access to the following controls:
⏮️ Rewind
⏪️ Rewind one frame
▶️ Pause/Play
⏩️ Advance one frame
⌛️ Video duration selection
👆 Work view
🎥 Camera view
To display the Timeline, click on the arrow located to the right of the toolbar.
2. Duration and coordination of animations
The duration of the video determines the duration of the animation: an animation will always play in full, but its speed will be adjusted according to the length of the video.
For example:
An animation on an 8-second video will be twice as slow as on a 4-second video.
To reduce the duration of an animation (product or lighting), click on the small bar at one end of the track and drag it to the desired duration.
You can then click and hold the track to move it to the desired position in the Timeline.
3. Animating a product
To animate a product (or an object), click on it, then select an animation from the menu at the bottom right.
The product animation will appear in the Timeline, allowing you to adjust its duration independently of the other animations.
Multiple animations
Thanks to the Timeline, you can apply multiple animations to the same product (or object).
If the animation doesn’t cover the entire duration of the video, you can add an additional animation by clicking on “Add an animation” in the free space of the Timeline.
Here is an example with a product to which we have applied two animations:
Here is an article that lists the different product animations.
4. Animating the light
To animate the light: go to the “Lights” section and select the “Animated” tab to display all available animated lights.
The light animation will appear in the Timeline, allowing you to adjust its duration independently of the other animations.
Example of a 4-second video with a light animation lasting 1 second:
Here is an article that lists the different light animations.
5. Practical example
Thanks to the Timeline, you can animate multiple products (or objects) at the same time, while maintaining full control over the duration and position of each animation. This allows you to coordinate complex animations with the lighting as well as multiple products (or objects) in your scene.
Here is the result! ✨
