Mistakes you shouldn't make when placing an order

To begin the Omi adventure, you first need to place an order. Here's an article to help you do that.

We've noticed that a number of errors can creep into our customers' first orders. So we've decided to help!

Here are the most common errors in Omi orders. The aim of this article is to help you avoid these recurring errors.

Summary

The most common errors

Error 1: Sending physical products before placing an order on your Omi account

This is a very common mistake, and without an order being placed on your account, the modelling of your product cannot begin. Worse still, it could delay it.

Please place your order first on your Omi account and then send us your products to the address indicated.

This allows us to track your order internally.

Error 2: Not providing the label file

You must provide the label file corresponding to your product in the following box👇

A label file is:

  • all the writing on your product

  • all the graphics on your product

Example 👇

Error 3: Not providing the correct label file

The label file supplied is the one we will apply to your product. If you supply us with the wrong label file, you will have to reject the proposed version and request a new version by supplying the correct label.

This will have cost you a return pass (you are entitled to a maximum of two returns per 3D model).

Error 4: Not providing a vectorised label file

If your labels are not vectorised, they will be unusable. Here is a link to help you vectorise your labels.

PLEASE NOTE: We need your label files, whatever your order (physical copy or photo), without which we will not be able to proceed with your modelling.

Error 5: Not specifying what we should apply to the product, especially if the labels supplied are different from the physical products.

When you provide us with your labels, please specify if there is a difference with the products received in physical form.

Please also specify the location of the labels if this is specific.

ATTENTION: If you need to make any changes to your label (writing, logo, etc.), it is up to you to provide us with the new label. We do not change labels.

Error 6: Not providing a precise description

Specify as much as possible about your product or how you would like it to be modelled in the box below 👇

Example 👇

  • Dimensions

  • Colour (pantone code)

  • Texture (add complementary images)

Error 7: Not sending photos of the 6 sides requested if photo modelling

When you choose a photo reference model, we need all 6 sides of the product. Please insert these photos in the dedicated space 👇

💡 Omi Tips 💡

Take 6 photos of the product against a light background, preferably in natural light or with neutral, perspective-free light.

Error 8: Providing a prototype of your product

Please do not provide a prototype of your product. This could compromise the expected rendering of your 3D model.

Error 9: Include several products in a single order

Please note that one order is equal to one product. So if you want to model a bottle with its case, for example, you will need to place :

  • An order for the bottle

  • An order for the case

If this happens, you will receive an error message from the 3D team and this could delay your modelling.

Error 10: Making two requests in one

It is not possible to request two "product states" in one order.

This represents two different models.

By doing so, you risk receiving an error message from the 3D team and this could delay your modelling.

Error 11: Requesting a closed product instead of an open product and vice versa

Make sure you choose the state of the product you want and don't get it wrong.

Please note! If you select "Product status closed" and write "I want my product open" in the description, the status of the selected product will take precedence over your description.

If this happens, we consider your error to be a change of brief and this will incur an additional cost on the modelling of your product.
